CSD Strategic Plan and Goals


The goal of the program is to prepare highly competent speech-language pathologists who are dedicated to the service of persons from infancy through maturity who have communication disabilities. The ability to communicate effectively is a highly complex human behavior that is critical to the fullness of human life.

This goal is achieved through a curriculum integrating academic rigor, research activities and clinical practicum designed to:

2014-2017 Strategic Plan

  1. Enhance faculty excellence through continued national searches for full time tenure track faculty.
  2. Monitor and update the academic and clinical curricula for the Master of Science degree in speech-language pathology.
  3. Continue to enhance integration of technology into academic and clinical instruction. In conjunction with the Center for Instructional Design and Academic Technology /Information Services, develop a plan for support and upkeep of CSD technology.
  4. Continue to plan and offer high quality educational opportunities that will benefit graduate students, full-time and adjunct faculty, and local speech-language pathologists and audiologists.
  5. Encourage and facilitate greater faculty research opportunities and foster student participation in faculty research.
  6. Re-establish and maintain an advisory board to provide input to the undergraduate program in Communication Sciences and Disorders, the Master of Science Program in Speech-Language Pathology and the Ludden Speech and Language Clinic.
