Mathematics summer camps at Saint Xavier University provide local students the opportunity to work with university mathematics professors. Participants in our camps will explore exciting mathematical topics that are extensions of the traditional school curriculum.

This year, we are offering two camps: the Mathematics and Art Summer Camp, which is for middle school students (entering grades 6, 7 and 8); and the Secrets of Mathematics Summer Camp, which is for high school students (entering grades 9-12).

Mathematics and Art Summer Camp

In Mathematics and Arts Summer Camp, middle-school students entering grades 6 through 8, will explore the connections between mathematics and art with hands-on activities as well as computer software. Through investigations with symmetry, modular arithmetic tables, star polygons, origami, Mobius strips, the art of M.C. Escher, tessellations, and fractals, students will create mathematical designs. This camp ran June 25-29, 2018.

Secrets of Mathematics Summer Camp

The Secrets of Mathematics Summer Camp offers a blend of lectures, hands-on experiments and group work focused on mathematic puzzles, history of mathematics, number theory and cryptography for high-school students entering grades 9 through 12. This camp will run July 23-27, 2018. Registration has closed.
